Payroll Update 14 August 2024

News for School Payroll Staff

Kia ora koutou

We hope you are having a good week. Here are a couple of reminders for you about the ACC levy invoice and the removal of the secondary part-time additional hours (SPTAH) pay code.

ACC 2024 levy invoice now ready in EdPay

Schools need to pay an ACC employer levy every year. The levy covers work-related injuries for school employees whose salary is paid from operational grant funding. The school’s leviable earnings amount is based on its bulk operational grant funding. The rate is set by ACC and is currently $0.26 per $100 of leviable earnings.

Your school’s 2024 levy invoice is now available to download from EdPay. Go to EdPay > Reports tab > ACC EoY report > 2024 invoice.

On Tuesday 10 September 2024, Education Payroll will debit your levy amount from your school’s account. Please ensure there are enough funds in your account on that date.

Coding for additional hours for part-time secondary teachers, removal of SPTAH code

The Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (2023–2025) includes a change to the way part-time teachers are paid for additional hours worked.

From term 3 2024, the secondary part-time additional hours pay code (SPTAH) is no longer available.

Please do not use the SPTAH code on CSV timesheet uploads in EdPay. If a timesheet file is uploaded with SPTAH entries, the CSV file will be accepted, but the SPTAH entries will not be paid.

If a part-time teacher works additional hours, their Full Time Teacher Equivalent (FTTE) should be increased, or this work should be coded using the short-term reliever (DDR) pay code, depending on the type and length of work they are undertaking.

Please read the joint guidance from the Ministry of Education and the PPTA, which has several examples showing when to use the DDR code and when to increase FTTE.
