Māori immersion teacher allowance (MITA)
A salary allowance for teachers or principals who teach students using te reo Māori at immersion levels 1, 2 or 3. The allowance needs to be re-applied for each year.
For teachers on the latest collective or individual employment agreement (2022/23), schools can add the MITA allowance, including any eligible additional service MITA allowances, in EdPay.
For principals on the latest collective or individual employment agreement (2022/23), schools will need to apply for the allowance on an EP37t (MITA base allowance) or an EP38t (MITA additional service allowances, for 3+ or 6+ continuous years teaching te reo Māori at immersion level 1 or 2). See EdPay and forms for these forms.

4. The rate, funding code and department codes will display.
