Appoint an acting principal
Only one principal role can be set up for each school, in the payroll. If a permanent teacher acts in the prinicipal position in the same school for over two weeks, a higher duties allowance is paid according to the terms of their employment agreement. See People and employment (Ministry of Education website). To apply for a higher duties allowance complete a NOVO28t form.
Authorised user access to the EdPay Service
Only one authorised user can have principal access in EdPay at one time in each school. If the principal is absent, the school has these options:
- Other authorised users at the school can make changes for employees in EdPay, except for themselves and other school-wide administrators, these changes can be made via form.
- Request school-wide administrator access for the acting principal using an EP5 form. This will give the acting principal the ability make changes for employees in EdPay, except for themselves and other school-wide administrators, these changes can be made via form.
- If the principal is absent for a long period of time and the school has a number of school-wide administrators, it may be easier to cancel the principal’s access and request principal access for the acting principal. This will need to be reversed when the principal returns. Submit an EP5 and an EP5c form for this option. See Authorised user access
